Source info not found - CD changer swaps

i read though a lot of the posts about the trunk cd chnger, but could find my excat issue. i bought a 1996 eldorado in great shape with all the toys. had it for all of about2 months till a deer wanted a better look at it one morning on the way to work. she got too close and resemble jon elway when triedtojump into the endzone andgot spun like ahelicopter. anyway, car was totaled i went down to texas and bought a 2000 eldorado, same color. kept some choice parts off the 1996 one of which was the cd changer. snapped right in, no muss no fuss. about a year later something was causing my battery todrain, during the trouble shoootin i removed the changer caus i thought i could hear ittrying to cycle through the disks. ended up not being the problem, put it back in and worked fine for a couple weeks, one day the little stack of cds on the hu display didnt show up and it would justsay sourse not found. i can open the door and it kicksthe case out to me, all the trays seeem to whork fine. put the case back in it takes it and i can hear it trying cycle up but never gets there and gives me the soourse not found error again. any idea what is going on? thanks Brian

Disconnect the CD changer connector and then reconnect it.

    Re: source not found

i dont know why this would make a difference, but i took all the trays and cd's out and just put the empty holder back in, this time the little short stack of cd's showed up on the HU. so i stuck just 4 empty trays in and the little icon popped up and you could hear it cycling through the trays. so i added one more tray with a cd this time. again it cycled thru the trays butnever played or even showed their was one in that slot. does this soun familiar to anybody from past experience. and before you ask the cd isnt upside down. some one have the answere please, lol

Yeah, looks like you have issues with the mechanics, you will have to take it apart and do a bench test, is almost like a clock inside, many things can go wrong with the mechanics.
