Start by pulling the DTCs. Post them AND their definitions. See the DTC sticky at the top of the forum page if you need help.

    Also check your fuel pressure.

but that wouldn't explain why the fan does not turn on. the car gets up 229 in temperature but always goes back down to 216 when the thermostat opens. to my understanding the car shouldn't get higher then 199-200. even then the fans still dont turn on. so my guess is that as a procoutionary mesure the car shuts down to prevent any further damage to the engine. now i have located some relays under the hood but am not sure that they are the right ones. i also think that the coolant temature sensor may be bad and that it sends the wrong signal or none at all. therefor not allowing power to the fans. eaither way the fans dont work and there not buned out cause i checked them. they just dont get power. BUT when i put a jumper wire in it to get the codes (code 12) the check engine light doesn't turn on nor does it blink. which leads me to believe that there is a problem somewhere between the ignition switch and the pcm. im just really confused and dont want to buy unnecessary parts.

that is NOT how you get the codes from your '93 Eldorado -

go here - read the ENTIRE THREAD -
if you do have and codes - post them here - ALONG WITH THEIR DEFINITIONS -

    http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...odes-dtcs.html
    ------------------------------------------

the car gets up 229 in temperature
that is warm - but still within the operating range - and NOT overheating -

to my understanding the car shouldn't get higher then 199-200
    wrong information -

my guess is that as a procoutionary mesure the car shuts down
to prevent any further damage to the engine

if the engine was overheating -
you would get a lot of warning messages -
but the car just wouldn't shut down on it's own -

im just really confused and dont want to buy unnecessary parts.
if you are going to do your own diagnostics and repairs -
I would strongly suggest purchasing the Factory Service Manual -
check ebay - they show up regularly
