1999 STS - long crank, hard start, dies

Hi caddy people, i got a question and hope i can get the help i need here. My 1999 sts sometimes won't start and just cranks for like a minute and than all the sudden starts right away. When it starts it drives like new but sometimes while I'm driving, it shuts off but the lights and everything stays on. I'll go and try to start it up and it starts up right away, do you think its an electrical problem, alarm problem or what do you think??? Thank you so much for your help

Have you checked for fuel and spark when it fails to start?

    Re: wont start/die problem

Use the car's built in code reader/scanner to get any trouble codes. Study the OBD-II section of the sticky post ^^^ "How to pull codes". Practice, write down all codes, whether each is Current or History, then return to the sticky to open the "obd2" link which takes you to a Master Index of all P,B,C, and U codes. Write down the definitions of your found codes and post it all here.

A bad fuel pressure will make it hard to start first thing in the morning after the intake floods overnight but I don't think it would make it stall. Crank sensor could do it. There are two and there should be a code.
