Well -- not exactly. Besides dampening vibration, Dynamat can also reduce noise and improve insulation by covering (sealing) open areas, such as the "holes" or open areas in interior door panels. I guess I'm not describing the bulkhead well enough.

I have a couple questions for Lifer or EldoRedo when you Dynamatted your doors:
1.) Did you cover the openings to the window track with something like a piece of metal or did you just put the Dynamatt down over the opening?
2.) Did you cover the metal links that connect the interior door handle with the latching mechanism with something so they still move?

In my 91 Eldo, there's sort of an open frame between the back seat and the trunk interior back trim piece. I sandwiched a a big sheet of jute in there the last time I had the seat back out, but not sure how I would handle the Dyanmat there.

    Re: eldorado interior panels

Well, I completed the repair of both interior panels and added the sound proofing material to the metal behind the panels, under and behind the seat, and on the upper deck where the speakers are.

For anyone doing the repair, I would highly suggest investing in a set of interior panel removal tools. I picked up a decent set of plastic tools for $5.00 at my local Hardware Freight Tools store along with some 6" speed clamps for $3 each. The clamps came in handy for clamping the vinyl with a small piece of wood to get even pressure and not mark the vinyl. The panel tools prevented me from breaking the post that's part of the panel on the second one I removed and holds the clip.

When gluing everything, I did it in phases to to ensure it held and was flat as possible. When putting the panels back on, I made a pencil mark on the vinyl side directly behind the clip post so I knew where to tap the panel and get the clips to catch.
I'm posting before and after pics of the repair and shots of where the 6 clips are located on the panel

I was able to fix the panel on my passenger side, but the driver side is badly damaged, the post that's directly behind the driver seat is badly crack on the backside of the panel. I'm going to be in the market for a replacement panel altogether.

    Re: eldorado interior panels

I understand. I broke one side of the post on the very end of the panel near the rear windshield when removing the first panel. Luckily, I was able to repair it with a piece of metal L bracket, or would have had to get a replacement. That's why investing in the tool kit to carefully remove the other one was worth $5. it came out with all the clips still attached. I hope you find a replacement panel, Jim

    Vincentm,

When you replaced your 6x9's, do they come out via the trunk or do you have to remove the rear deck lid?

One little thing I learned when installing Dynamat to the Eldorado doors, when you make the cutouts on the slots that receive the clips, DO NOT CUT the bottom section. leave a little dog ear, fold it over on the inside of the slot and press; a little added surface to avoid metal on metal or plastic on metal. JAMMGM also mentioned heat shrink material earlier in this thread.

I'd install them first, to avoid damaging the tint.

    Vincentm,

    Are those all new?
Also, where did you get the steering wheel?
Mine is crappy looking and I like the wood sections on yours.

The wood wheels are a tough find and even when you do they can be outrageously spendy..... The cool thing is those wheels will fit most Cadillacs from 96-02 but they only came on eldorados from either 00-02 or 01-02?
