Re: motor mount broken questions - STS 2001

Westar has a solid rubber front mount - EM-3083S - I installed it yesterday (along with solid rubber side mounts), NVH is a little bit up but not so bad, I expect it to settle down. Time will tell if this solid mount is any stronger... good news is my mysterious front-right rattle is gone.

Both my front and front-right mounts had failed, the front right one leaked oil out the bottom but the front one still had oil in it - it had cracked on the top so only leaked when I turned it upside down...

Re: motor mount broken questions - STS 2001

As a followup, I replaced the two rubber side mounts with hydraulic ones as the NVH was too much for a Cadillac... and was a lot more shakey than normal at a cold start. (Normal I suppose.) With the aftermarket hydraulic ones I'd say it's back to completely smooth.

However the front solid rubber mount is staying in, let's see how long it lasts with generous application of the go pedal!

Only problem is that RA lists only one hydraulic front mount and it is the DEA which it says is OEM. I am in the same boat and have been driving with a broken front mount since I bought the car just over 3 years ago. Not sure if I want to bother now though lol

Fabricate a set of torque struts and the front mount will last forever.

My 2001 ESC makes a funny noise out of the front right side when starting from a dead stop. I was told it was a motor mount by the mechanic that just installed the new motor. I know its not the cv joint. Any ideas what it could be???

do you have any reason to doubt the word of the "mechanic"?

did you ask WHY he didn't replace the mount -
if he knew it was broken?
