It's a very common mistake that people make particularly when it's their first Cadillac and they're not used to the pull down latch! |

Which is partly true, You need to remember that they have had these pull downs since the '70s when everybody else had to slam the crap out of the trunk to get it to close! It was VERY cool then, It's a little out dated now and will probably go away soon.....Hopefully! |

People arent that lazy that they cant push the trunk down that far (take that back, me :-D ). What would be really cool is if there was a button on the trunk that would take it ALL the way down. That would be cadillac at its best. |

When I do, if they're around, I'll just lay the lid down softly and it won't close. I look at them and say "oh.....that's right....it's not a Cadillac".
Of course, once in a while you get a Lincoln with a power trunk.
It does seem kind of silly though.
Also, on our 93 Deville, next to the mechanism, there is a yellow "unlock doors" button, so, if you're loading in the trunk you don't have to fumble around for a remote. I wish my 96 SLS had this feature too. |

This can be eliminated by removing the sensor and applying 12v to the motors tabs which lowers the latch. It takes a few tries to find just the right position so the trunk closes all the way, but once done, you have a normal slam-able trunk. Obviously you want to do it before the motor burns out because it uses a worm gear and cant be turned manually... |

There was a commercial on TV with some guy taking a cab and the drivers pops the trunk but the guy discreetly holds the trunk and you can see the lied slowly pulling down (as in he needs no luggage to travel).
Is such a cool feature! I love-it is one of the reasons I bought this car.

What drives me crazy is when someone slams the hell out of your door when they close it,my wife does it all the time,(what can you say?),
it's worse with the eldo. becuase she hates the big doors, I dont think she does it intentionally, but I still cringe. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
