I had to replace the one on my Eldo when I bought it. Carelessness is to blame. Nothing else. The great news is that the parts to fix it can be found on Buick Park Avenues, Oldsmobile Ninety Eights, etc....

It has never broken since I've owned the car.

My 97 sts has not had latch replaced, but when I bought my 92 eldo 3 months ago it had just been replaced by person I bought it from.

rockauto sells the power latches. some are around $70 and the ACDelco costs $200. Are the cheapies going to be OK?

How to convert the trunk close to a standard mechanism and get rid of the powered one?

I go apesh!t when somewone slams my trunks. The prupose of the power pull down is so you DON"T have to slam it to lock it. Cadillac offered these since the late 60s.

But, my wife's 2005 CTS does NOT have a power pull down, nor does it have conering lights or the auto pulloff of the parking brake!!!
