1996 STS forum? sunroof and trunk won't close.

(Please be kind. I'm new here and trying to help a friend with her Caddy.)
1996 STS sunroof and trunk both don't close all the way. I'm looking for which fuse to test / replace. She doesn't have any manuals on the car and wants to sell it, but needs to drive it for now. Winter is tough with an open sunroof.
So, all that said: How do I find / test / replace the sunroof and trunk closing fuses?
    (Hopefully, it's just fuses.)
    thanks

I don't understand what you mean by the trunk 'won't close all the way". As far as the sunroof, if it works at all, you've got power and the fuse sounds OK. Unfortunately, it sounds like a problem with the drive hardware and most of those repairs are spendy.

You'll probably get better info by posting in the area for the Seville STS/SLS. This forum is for the 2005 & up RWD/AWD models.

    Good luck!

Your friends car is a Cadillac Seville STS not a Cadillac STS. Sevilles were available as either SLS (Seville Luxury Sedan) or STS (Seville Touring Sedan). The 05+ STS is a completely different model.

By the trunk "not closing all the way", do you mean the power pull down feature does not work?

Before anyone tries diagnosing your sunroof, you'll have to confirm that it is a factory unit. Does the switch look identical to the one illustrated in the owners manual?

Edit: Just realized you said she does not have a manual. Where is the switch located? Does it look tacked on and out of place, or like a factory switch?

Thanks for your replies. It's been a busy month.
The sunroof switch looks like it would be factory inst'd -- cleanly placed near the sunroof in a plastic housing.
And -- yes -- the trunk's "power pull down feature" doesn't work.
There's a write-up I saw on here that explained the pull down fix, but, unfortunately, the trunk is full of stereo and I might have to dismantle the sound system.
