Can someone help me in making this extension to relocate my Bose HU to the trunk? Ive manage to snag a factory harness from another 97 a few weeks ago (UW7, same as my existing one) and just need to know how to exactly do so, ive no CD changer just a Double Din Pioneer AVH-4400BH installed, Ive sent PM's and asked in another thread but no responses.

What wires do i need to run to the Bose HU?

Should i use both grounds off the harness from the Bose? What about E1 (Serial Data Signal E and C) greenwire ?

Re: 2000 ETC factory amplifer? location and validation

Sorry I haven't been on the forum in a while, and was unable to answer your question. What I did is extend each and every wire in that harness (perhaps unnecessarily) so that they all reach the radio with the exception of the audio channel (you can see I added the female RCA plugs in the harness, and these do not reach the BOSE head unit in the trunk--so I can't hear audio coming out of the head unit). The only mod is that--instead of using the audio out of the head unit, I substitute it for the one in the dash. I didn't use any factory harness... I purchased a Male and female GM 32 connectors and simply made an extension to relocate the head unit in the trunk. I can go and change the audio DSP effects (driver, hall, etc) in the trunk, and my steering volume control works as well.

I know this is an old post, but MTFlight and N*Caddy seem to really know the ins & outs of "replacing" the stock head unit. I have a 97 STS, non-bose system that has died. The speakers are also shot. From what I have read, the non-bose can be replaced using gmrc-03 wiring harness, correct? Or am I going to run into any security issues? Also, does anyone have the pin layout for the harness of non-bose 97 STS? Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, this is my first post.

Both members have been absent for a while. Please surf through the Audio, Video, ..... forum. There may be something there, and there are other audio threads scattered through this forum.

To search, try to Google something like "cadillac forums 2000 eldorado sound system replacement" or other similar "cadillac forums ......" searches.

    Welcome Aboard !!!

Thanks submariner, I have done that, but I keep find conflicting results. I have the new head unit abd speakers installed, but did it with a cheap connector. The nemory on the hu does not save, but thats an easy fix by running constant 12v. Before I bought this $50-$60 harness, I just wanted to be sure it would not cause some of the issues I have read about. Mainly security, and sleep mode. Thanks again!

To the best of my (limited car audio) knowledge, the proper connector harness retains all functions. Does Crutchfield still offer harness/car/matching advice ?

See if you can hook up with CF Member Moist Cabbage. He has a Seville TS with most righteous sound.

EDIT: N*Caddy is an expert electronics technician. Don't lose his posts - and there are hundreds more.

AFAIK, there are Bose and non Bose integration modules available for last gen Sevilles/Devilles. I'd assume the same is true for pre '98, but I'm not positive. I'd get in touch with Metra or PAC audio and ask before installing.

Yes, Crutchfield does but says not enough research on that vehicle. Same with SonicElectronix, haha. I went to Metra & Axxess sites and both say gmrc-03 will work. I guess I will give it a go. Like I said, I have it working fine with a cheapo harness, without chimes. Thanks again fellas!

Metra GMOS-06 is what you need and youll need to put a fuse on the new 12v constant going to the HU. 2ohm infinity speaks are the perfect match for the factory Bose amps.

GMRC03 for 32 pin non boss systems.

I have 2 laying around if you need 1.

And for the record I've never seen an STS without Bose. May want to make sure you don't have it. Pull the trunk back seat liner and see if there are mini amps attached to the rear deck speakers. If so you have Bose.
