Not a problem - that front body cross brace is a 2 X 3 inch box beam, welded. You can lift the entire front end of the car with it - engine and all. If I had one doubt about the strength, the rods would not be in there.

The earlier Sevilles with dogbones used the same brace to mount the dogbone brackets to............

Considering that some people even uses them to lift the body when doing engine removal, I'd say it's pretty heavy duty.

I received mine as well yesterday, Ranger! Thanks! What size bolts should I use to secure to the radiator crossbeam?

For my STS I used 5/16" grade 5 or 8 bolts, SAE thread. Any hardware store. The driver's side carriage bolt will be impossible to find in a hardened type, but it primarily retains the torque strut over the top of the cross brace: the bolt itself takes very little of the strain.

Make sure that the two 10mm bolts which secure the driver's side lifting strap to the water crossover are torqued to about 15 ft/lb. Don't mess with the purge line nipple/bolt.

She's rock solid now. As the Coasters put it back in 1958 (Yackity Yack) "You ain't gonna rock and roll no more".

Ranger. I received your rods in the mail today, and I must say, I'm very disappointed. Almost all the coupons in the advertisements you used as packing paper were expired. I have half a mind to send them back! The rods look great though.

WOW! That took a LOT longer than I would have expected.

I have to admit, you got me. My heart sank when I read "I'm very disappointed". Glad you are happy with them. I'm sure you will be even more so once installed.

Lol, sorry, I couldn't resist. I'll be happy once the HG job is done (supposed to be started tomorrow), the issue with the crud on my car is resolved, and my valve covers, engine cover and your rods are painted and living happily in a leak free engine compartment. I just want my car back!

Maybe too late to the party, but I just installed Ranger's rods today. Received them months ago but I was not available.

What can I say, I am totally enjoying the reduced movement of the engine when brake torqued. It eliminated the gentle clunking when shifted out of park or from reverse to drive. Also eliminated the "thump" when re-accelerating after a slow down.

It increased the cabin noise a little bit, rather than a noise it's more like you can hear your engine from inside of the car now. Under moderate acceleration it sounds like a supercharger whine. No additional vibrations.

Not as late as me, I'm still waiting for my engine from Jake. My rods are still in the box.

THAT sounds like a bad mount/s.

That was what I thought, but it looked fine when I disassembled the engine. It was fairly new, just replaced before I bought the car. No excessive play while brake torquing either. That said, it was just a "gentle" feeling that I could only feel anyway

There're 4 mounts, 3 are hydraulic. Did you check all of them, or just the front? Rangers rods or not, you NEED all of your engine mounts present and undamaged.
