Just looked at two different 1997 cars online and they both had dog bones. Maybe an inaccurate picture ??

.............but www.gmpartsgiant.com shows the 1997 as having dogbones and mounts.

I'm assuming there's no reason why they wouldn't fit on a '98 right? Geez, you guys are always finding mods that I want!

I have 3 sets left. First come, first served. I'm not planning on making any more. I only made these because there were several requests and a few of those never responded or they'd all be gone now.

As promised in Post #1 - after 236 miles, no changes of opinion. It's all a good thing. (Did two 2nd gear runs to redline this eve - nary a hiccup.)

Re: The 2000+ Seville side of Ranger's Rods

All '93-'97 Seville, '93-'02 Eldorado and '94-'99 Deville have the dog bones (interchangeable).
The rubber does brakes allot (is baked in the engine side) no OEM replacement dog bone lasted more than 2 years in my car (other than the original ones good for over 8 years). I found that by periodically flipping them the rubber "cooks" evenly on both ends so they almost last twice longer.
And yes you were right the only reason I am thinking on the factory dog bones other than factory look is the give (due to the rubber bushings). They do allow some engine movement, actually quite allot (so less jerking) and takes some stress from the transmission and CVs plus reduces the noise and vibrations.
Not sure if the amount of improvements will justify the effort of welding the brackets on the front brace.

Re: The 2000+ Seville side of Ranger's Rods

From N*Caddy.....[QUOTE] They do allow some engine movement, actually quite a lot (so less jerking) and takes some stress from the transmission and CVs plus reduces the noise and vibrations.[QUOTE]

    Just some random thoughts..........

No jerking noticed - transmission action in all gears has not changed. I had been wary, but no problems here.

Transmission could care less: it's torque converter drive, so that's what smooths things out, not 1/2" of engine movement - if that were true, what would a conventional (longitudinal) transmission undergo in terms of stress ? Sort of the same for CV's: WOT is WOT - they will withstand a LOT of torque. (Those poor CV joints not only have to drive the car forward, they also take the full force of engine braking in a panic stop - what do you think happens to them in terms of vibration when you engage ABS from 70 mph ??)

The whole idea of flex motor mounts is vibration and noise control. Dog bones are a great torque control idea for this FWD application, no question. The rods are simply another, less elegant solution to our front motor mount problems.

Ordered from Cadillac in 2006. $40. They can still be found. #25653157

The 15mm strut tower bolts get torqued to 33 ft/lb with a drop of Loktite red on the threads.

Ask Chris in Rippy Cadillac parts. ^^^ Up in Vendors or over there >>>
