    chrome wheel cleaner

What do you guys recommend for a spray-on chrome wheel cleaner? I want to find a GOOD cleaner to remove the disc brake dust, short of using Simichrome polish.

    Re: chrome wheel cleaner

I use Meguiar's Hot Rims chrome wheel cleaner. Just rinse off the rim with cool water, spray it on liberally, let sit for a few minutes and rinse it off. Gets most of the brake dust/road grime off, still usually needs a little manual scrubbing to get them completely clean though but definitely a GREAT product.

I have been using this for almost a year and it works great. If you watch videos of it in action, I have yet, to be able to clean a wheel without scrubbing. I spray on the cleaner, let it sit, brush with a Daytona wheel bruch with car wash on it, and hose off. Wheels come out, tongue on rim surface, clean.

I bought a bottle of Simple Green to try that also. Both Simple Green and Brown Royal are degreasers. So it may work just as well as the Brown Royal

    Re: chrome wheel cleaner

Everyones probably going to give you a different answer, but here's my 2 cents. I worked at a parts store a few years back, intried EVERY tire/wheel cleaner, car wash soap and vinyl dressing we carried. Eagle 1 A-Z wheel and tire cleaner became my favorite out of the 6 or 7 we carried. Got whitewalls bleached white without much scrubbing, got the painted rims on my Town Car spotless and works just as good on the chrome rims on my Seville, I've never had a problem with it leaving residue. I use it with a tapered, lambswool rim brush.

Try a microfiber cloth with the same cleaner you use for the car. I know it sounds simple, but it works and rarely requires scrubbing. Flitz is still my favorite chrome polish.

My best car cleaning materials are a big pile of microfiber of different types. I even bought a dozen for dish towels and general cleaning. Wash and dry separately and dry ONLY on low heat and they will stay like new and last for years! www.autogeek.net has a great assortment of microfiber
