For long time I wanted to replace my keys with the gold plated version. They are for sale on e-bay for around $40 (shipping included). Now I do have the VAT table posted below (from various sources) and surprise, surprise my pallet value is almost dead center between 11 and 12.
11 should be (ideally) 4750 ohms but values between 4560 ohms and 4960 ohms are acceptable, while 12 is 6040 ohms (accepted values between 5790 ohms and 6303 ohms).
What I read on my pallet is 5320 ohms.
Math will show me a difference of:
1. 570 ohms form VAT11 and 983 from VAT12 ideal values
2. 360 ohms from VAT11 and 470 from VAT12 max and min acceptable values respectively.
The wires between ignition block and IPC could have maximum 10 ohms and the contact resistance in the ignition block could be up to 20 ohms so in total the IPC will read maximum +30 ohms over the resistance I get with the ohmmeter, small enough to be neglected.
Either way VAT11 is the closest value but is not in the acceptable value range.
Anybody has experience with this?
1) .402 KOhm (.386KOhm-.438KOhm)
2) .523 KOhm (.502 KOhm -.564 KOhm)
3) .681 KOhm (.650 KOhm -.728 KOhm)
4) .887 KOhm (.850 KOhm -.942 KOhm)
