My trunk pull-down is screwed up

My trunk pull down doesn't work right anymore. I have to slam the trunk to close it, and then the pull down motor starts running, and it won't stop until I open the trunk again. It will just grind itself to death, if the car is running or not. There's a little switch on the trunk lid latch that seems to engage the motor. But I think the catch is stuck in the down position. I yanked the pull down fuse to keep the damn thing from killing my battery.

I know what you mean. Mine on my 90 Eldy is laying in pieces in my trunk. Where is the fuse at that you pulled. Can't find mine under the instrament panel like Cadillac said it was. I asked a mechanic online about this to make it manual. If you have the trunk latched and THEN pull the fuse you can get it to manual and do away with the motor. I couldn't get mine to latch so I'm looking on Ebay for parts.

Many members on this forum successfully repaired the unit (generally is the switch). Is not hard to take the pull down motor assembly apart and have it fixed.
