Automatic trunk latch?
I have a 97 STS and wondering do i have to do anything to get the trunk to pull itself down after opening it?
Regardless if i open it from button on dash or with key the latch dont always come up.
I usually push that button on trunk and the bottom latch thing a couple times then it comes up.
Is there something im doing wrong?
Thanks

Remove the latch and clean the contacts.

Re: Automatic trunk latch?
The bottom portion or the part on the trunk?
Sometimes the latch comes up, most times it don't so i keep pushing those little piece on the latch and trunk portion to make it come up.
If the latch comes up it will close no problem, problem is it staying down sometimes.

Re: Automatic trunk latch?
I think there is a black plastic activation switch. It activates the pull down motor. Try cleaning those contacts. That sounds liken the part you are pushing on.

Re: Automatic trunk latch?
Latch wasn't coming up nor pulling down? Do you have part number?
Mine just don't come up until i hit reset buttons. It pulls down fine when it does come up.

Re: Automatic trunk latch?
The switch block that is part of the pulldown assy has two separate switches. The upper lever actuated switch is what I think is not working for you. Push down and release it several times with the trunk open. If it finally comes up, the upper, lever-actuated switch is bad.

part # 16629927 is what I bought for my Eldo. They are probably all the same.
