    93 Seville Strut replacements?

Hi All. Great list.. I just joined but by searches I already solved a ton of issues with the car!
Still one left... I have the 'service ride control' warning and I know its the struts, its like driving a waterbed on stilts and I damn near get sea sick. its strictly a commuter car now even though it only has about 30K miles on it.
I dont care about the warning but I care about the ride, so Im looking for el cheapo replacement struts. I dont wish to retain the sensatrac stuff and would love just standard issue struts for it. if it turns off the warning, great, but if not thats fine too. I was looking for suggestions..
    thanks!

I've seen a few names mentioned like Strutmasters, and Arnott - they are passive and come with a resistor to extinguish the light; some people have found replacements that are passive and may be designed for another car, like a Buick or Olds - those can be really inexpensive - you will need to source and install the resistor yourself - 4.7K Ohms, I think. Do a search - you find a lot of threads and posts about it.

    Re: 93 Seville Strut replacements?

My 93 Seville also rides like a boat, swaying all over the place and when I hit little bumps it sounds like a strut is ready to fall off!!!

I've searched for top names that have been in the business forever, and narrowed it down to Gabriel Ultra or a set from Monroe, but Monroe requires some kind of fancy adapter kit! Not ready for that. I really believe I'll end up with the Gabriel Ultras but I still have questions.

My warning light hasn't come on yet, but it's obvious I need struts. I'm just wondering if the Gabriel Ultras are a direct replacment.

As with you, I could care less about the electronically adjustable struts, I just want it smoother. But now I'm wondering if I just put a non-electronic strut on, will a warning suddenly appear on my dash since I've unhooked the factory suspension sensor.

I'm still leaning toward all 4 Gabriel Ultra struts but wanted to find opinions first.

My '93 is also due for new struts all the way around. Overall the ride isn't bad but it definitely clunks and bangs when going over a bump. Been looking at the Strutmasters but the 700+$ for the kit is a bit off-putting. However I am told that the Strutmasters is a straight bolt-in, no cutting, welding or hammering.

If a 4.7K ohm resistor is all that is needed to turn that damn light off, well I have plenty of those in my electronic junk box and enough weatherproofing to make sure it stays dry.

How much cheaper are the Gabriels?

    I'm not familiar with Arnotts.

I've never heard of Arnott either until I was finding a bunch of members who use them.

Gabriels are only $88 each for the front and $86 each for the rear, but with tax it comes to far less than I can get them from through CarStuff.com who charges $277 total with S&H where Auto Zone for all 4 is $348 plus tax.

I don't have any messages showing up on my dash, but it certainly rides like a row boat. And when I go over speed bumps in parking lots it bounces like 2 times when I would think a Caddy wouldn't really bounce at all.
