Cadillac Seville / Cadillac Eldorado Forum Discussion, Air mix door/actuator's technical name in Past Cadillac Vehicle Discussion; I found out that I need to replace my air mix door actuator, but I can't find what it is ...
I found out that I need to replace my air mix door actuator, but I can't find what it is called. I have been trying to find it on gmpartsdirect and they don't have a air mix door actuator. Does anybody know what the technical name for it is? Thanks in advance.
May I ask what problems you're experiencing? I need a similar part I believe. My parking brake does not automatically release, and I have no air flow through the dash vents.
I have hot air coming from the driver side vents no matter what the temp setting is at. The passenger side works fine, it's just the drivers side. I started having this problem a few months ago, but with the Michigan winters, I didn't mind the heat. Now that's it's starting to warm up, I want my AC fixed.
If you have variable temperature anywhere in the front passenger compartment, thats not your problem. Id be looking for a mode door actuator, its the on that actually directs air flow, rather than change its temperature.
On a 97 STS there are two of them behind the glovebox, one on top that controlls the drivers side temperature, one on the bottom that does the passenger side. Would assume its a similar configuration on the 99s. Get them from Ebay, there are lots of them there, just make sure you get the part number off the one in the car first.
I have a 2003 Deville that has problems with where the air is directed to, sometimes it comes out the dash and sometimes it comes out the floor, etc. I suscribed to All Data and on their repair it's called a "Mode Actuator" I removed the knee pad from under the steering wheel and the insulation behind that and I can see the thing if I stand on my head! There is an air duct right in front of it blocking the view. I expect if you had done this before you could feel you way around and get it out but I haven't! So I'm thinking about cutting the air duct and then taping it back together when I am done. What I would like to do is just set it so it comes out the dash and let it go at that. I live in Fort Myers and don't really need to use the heater part so don't need the air to come out the floor. I have taken some pictures as I have gone along so I can email them if you would like them.
