    DDM code

Hey all I have a DDM code B2236. I have looked through a few OBD2 lists and cant seem to find this one. Im sure it is the root of my possessed window problem and possibly my automatic backup side mirror problem. Any help would be appreciated.

    Bill

Are you sure of that code? I don't see it either.

Positive, I can take a picture of it if need be. It comes up every time I run the codes even after a reset.

    Re: DDM code

I can tell you with 100% certainty that B2236 is NOT listed in the 1998 Seviile (printed) Service Manual OR in the 2004 Deville (printed) Service Manual.

FWIW, DDM = Driver Door Module.

    Re: DDM code

Why would it spit out a code no one has reference to? I guess I will look at the DDM. Would a Tech 2 be required to check this out?

Don't know, but can't hurt if you have access to one.

This one tweaked my curiosity and I have done a little research into the anatomy of a DTC.

I have found two definitions for B2236 and the "most logical" one is Driver Door Lock Switch Fault. I say that because data to and from any door module first passes through the DDM.

The various door modules control whatever actions take place at that particular door (including the RF mirror operation).

Given that roof drip rails have gone the way of the USSR, the driver door switches can be subject to water dripping through an open window. Switch contacts and moisture is not a good combination.

Good luck and let us know how you resolve this issue.

seems strange that the FSM has no reference to it. Where did you find it Jim?

I poked around various places and ended up registering at this site in the UK:

    Re: DDM code

When presented with a trouble code the first thing I do is a Google search on "trouble code xxxxx". In this case you get 1450 hits on B2236 to choose from. The favorite GM references favor, "Left door lock switch fault".

    Re: DDM code

The large number of hits is likely caused by the fact that a B2xxx code is a "manufacturer specific" code rather than a "generic" code that applies to all OBDII vehicles.

Theoretically, in 1998 for example, GM could have assigned one meaning to a B2236 DTC for Cadillac and a different meaning for the same code on a Corvette and on and on for Buick, Pontiac....

Here is a good reference that goes by your VIN # as well as the trouble code. http://www.obdii.com/codes.asp
