    Suggestion : Don't

You'll have fun with the theft controls and DIC warnings as you try to figure out what's gone wrong.

Talk to a GOOD alarm shop before you start - there are ways to make it work pretty much OK.

Take Sub's advice very seriously. I've got a remote start on my other car, but I wouldn't dare let anyone touch my Seville. They wouldn't understand it.

Ive only had my 99 eldo for a couple months but it came with a remote start. Im pretty sure it was installed in 99 also. Its a Code Alarm Shurestart LX. Seems to play fine with the caddy's systems. Range is excellent also, It has 4 buttons but 8 functions, 2 per button,

ARM which locks the doors and if you hold it down it turns the headlights off or on

DISARM which unlocks the doors and if you hold it the trunk pops

FIND which just chirps it a couple times and flashes lights and if you hold its PANIC which is pretty much the same except louder and more annoying

START which starts the car, when you hold it for a few sconds it chirps once then ignition cycles and then starts. Holding it again kills the car

I love it and throughout the life of the car it seems to have played well with the million other gadgets in the car. No clue who installed it tho.

My 99 came with one also. I rarely use it although its useful when doing a test fire on the engine while you're under the hood. Every few times I use it it triggers the SERVICE THEFT SYSTEM warning and I have to drive around with the 'Security" MIL on for a few engine cycles. It spits a VTD B3055 (Invalid Key) so whatever they used as the Passkey bypass screws up periodically. Another reason I don't use it much. I think mine is a "Valet" by DEI.

Theres a bulldog one installed in my 94 when I bought it. It works pretty well. Not too far of range though.

There is a high end one installed in my 01 STS and I wish it never had it. My car exhibits the exact same security issues as chubbyranger's and as such I almost never use it as I fear the security system will just shut the car down one day and cost me a lot of money to fix. Not worth the headaches.

If its just throwing a B3055 I don't think you need to worry about it locking you down. The B3055 just means Passkey couldn't read the key but the car started anyway so (if you didn't have a remote start) you should probably have the Passkey "reader" in the ignition switch serviced.
