Hello today i drove my car to work everything was fine came out after work car wouldnt start have lights inside and out but thats it no radio windows wont roll down i dont think its the battery im thinking either a fuse or something with the security system my key fob doesnt work and i didnt lock the doors need some help.
The car is a 98 eldorado i cant pull the codes because nothing happens when you turn the key no message center no radio windows wont roll down nothing happens im going this morning check all the fuses then have the key checked.

Up until the "no key fob" I was thinking VATS wiring failure. Still could be that or low/dead battery. Try a spare key if you have one. The only quasi-simple test that I know of for VATS is to bypass the starter enable relay and see if it turns over (still won't start though). You'd need a wiring diagram and preferably a FSM for that. If its not a dead battery I'd say you're in for a tow.
Ok i put a new battery in car and tryed the other key still the same results the key will go in and turn the ignition but i get nothing i pulled every fuse none were bad the only thing that happens when i try to start the car is the security light on the dash flashes. I have done multiple searches on here and come up with having to change the ignition switch does this sound right. Need to get my car running and can use any advice out there.
If you get no power in the ACC or ON key positions I would tend to agree that the ignition switch needs replacement. When my VATS died on my CDV I had accessory and ignition power but no start. If you have no power period it sounds like an ignition switch failure. VATS does not interrupt main power sources, only the starter and fuel injection circuits.
Ok put the new ignition switch in and the car started drove around a little turned the car off a few times and started back up. I got home and locked the car with the switch on the door and next time i went to start the car exact same problem could this be something with the key fob not working.
To check the VATS wiring you'll need to pull the connector at the base of the steering column and locate the two VATS wires. Usually two very thin white wires in an orange sleeve. Using an ohmmeter check the resistance across them with the key out and key in the ignition. If there is no change your VATS wiring is bad. Search on 'VATS bypass.'
This is what i found if i get in my car after an extended period of time it will do this the fix is put the key in the ignition turn it to the on position then hit the unlock switch on the door the dash lights will light and i can start the car it does this every time the car sits for a extended period. If i drive it and go to the store or something it will start right up but if it sits then i have to go through this process.
I had weird starting problems and unusual codes. I cleaned alot of electrical connections, relays, fuses, engine grounds, chasis grounds and battery connections.
With low current, These Caddis do some wild and scarey stuff!
Still starting a week later.
if i get in my car after an extended period of time
How long is an "extended period of time?" A day, week? How old is your battery and have you already cleaned the connections? Threads are starting to run together here and I can't remember who has done what anymore.
I have cleaned connections battery is brand new and if the car sits for like an hour then the problem comes i think it is something with the theft system dont want to take it to the dealer because i know there gonna tell me i need a new computer or something expensive like that. there is a box in the trunk that controls the key fobs and can that go bad because both of my key fobs quit working also. and i changed the batteries in them and still they dont work.
