throttle cable routing

Remove this ad
Can anyone help me with the details of the throttle cable routing on a 2000 Northstar? Was working on the cruise control cable, I found my throttle cable isn't in the right location. I've been comparing my engine with pictures I've saved from other cars, but don't have a good shot of this area.

Mine is currently routed in front of the brake booster, over the master cylinder, over the cruise transducer, and into the bracket. Looks like it should come from somewhere under the cruise transducer. Does it just go under the brake booster? Are there any clips to hold it next to the engine?

Thanks,
-Michael

Re: throttle cable routing

FWIW on my 99 STS (different year + car) the throttle cable comes out of the firewall, curls up over the brake booster and loops into the bracket on the throttle body. There is a clip over the vacuum booster that holds the throttle and cruise cables and 3 fuel/vent lines going aft. eBay can be a good source for pix.

Re: throttle cable routing

Thank you, but unfortunately it looks like Seville has a very different engine bay setup than the Eldo.

I've been scavenging photos off eBay, but nothing clear enough to see the throttle cable routing lol. I can tell that the cable goes down, whereas in my car it's up and over the cruise transducer. It seems like it's being bent incorrectly where it clips into the bracket, so I definitely want to get this back in the right place.

Re: throttle cable routing

I am pretty sure from the radiator cover back the Elorado (‘93-’02) and Seville (‘93-’97) are identical. Here is my 97 Seville, the throttle cable goes from the Cruise Control Module to the Throttle body (as shown with the yellow line).

Here is another picture (notice the clip on the front of the tower strut).

Re: throttle cable routing

Can anybody help me with the throttle cable routing on an Eldo (or the 93-97 Seville)?

Re: throttle cable routing

There are differences under the hood of that nice Seville compared to my 96 eldo. the cover over the radiator, the covers that access the headlights, for sure different. All behind that looks the same.

Re: throttle cable routing

If that’s not it then maybe is this one (never paid attention to the cable), I was under the impression is going to the Cruise Control Module first, but appears there are 2 different cables.

By the way this is an Eldorado (identical anyway with Seville).

Re: throttle cable routing

Right... that's the one I'm looking for.

So it goes under the cruise control transducer, and I guess then under the booster... are there any clips holding it down there? (it looks like it would be close to the EGR tube--on my '00 model the EGR tube is down there)

Re: throttle cable routing

Well I haven’t followed the cable down there (and definitely the pictures I can find on interned are not good) but give me until tomorrow or so to check under the bonnet.
