    97 Seville STS hard shifting

Today the car started "clunking" when shifting from 1st to 2nd, less noticable but still clunking from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. Really clunked going to reverse from a dead stop.

I have checked the transmission fluid; no need for the dipstick, I could SEE the fluid in the resovoir! (kinda brown colored, unfortunately). Pulled the following codes:

PCM P0748 Pressure control solenoid circuit electrical (this is history)

RSS C1738 Exhaust solenoid valve short to ground (this is current)

Any ideas? I have a pretty good mechanic to take it to, also a tranny guy, but he is some distance away. Need to know from the experts on this forum what you think the problem might be before I make a decision. Obviously I DO NOT want the answer to be "rebuild the transmission," with only 85,000 on the clock.

    Thanks in advance, guys!

Re: 97 Seville STS hard shifting

An update: The motor mount was busted, had that replaced and also the (nearly new) dogbones replaced because they were stretched out due to the motor mount failure.

The shifting is better, but still clunks a little, and I am now getting "Service transmission" on the DTC with the P0748 code as current (pressure control solenoid circuit electrical).

Any ideas what this would cost to correct? Is it another $100 part buried inside a $2000 labor cost deep in the transmission?

    Thanks!!
