Problems with my Eldorado ETC...

Remove this ad
I got the P056 Dreaded code and it appears only once in a while. my eldorado is a 1993 Touring Coupe and has 80,000 original miles no headgasket replacement or new motor crap...

I really dont wanna spend 1200 bucks on it cause the car has no value anymore... i bought it $20,000 Grand in 1997 it had 45000 miles... from the dealership.

My questions are as follows:

where is the connector located because i think there could be a bad connection cause it only does it when it completely gets warmed up and it comes and goes like crazy. my car shifts fine but when the code comes up it seems different not rough, it just shifts at different rpm's.

Re: Problems with my Eldorado ETC...

The lean code might be a vacuum leak. Remove the engine cover (?) and trace out all the vacuum lines from/to the throttlebody and PCV system.

The ISS (Input Speed Sensor) replacement requires disassembly of the transmission (if you have a 4T80E) otherwise a 1993 owner will have to chime in.

Isn't that the fix that Ranger always quotes as "the $25 part that's $2000 deep in the transmission?"

Yep, that's it - a $112 (list) part buried 12 labor hours inside the case. In the diagram it appears just under the pressure solenoid, but it's actually inside the next case cover.

Re: Problems with my Eldorado ETC...

Guess I'll have to start calling it the $100 part buried $2000 deep in the trans.
