I think my starter went. Please help me!

So I let my parents take my car out the other night (probably a bad choice). When they were out my dad started the car and the starter got hung up. It kept going after the car was running so he turned the key off and took it out but the starter kept going making A terrible skreeching noise. So he started it and drove it a couple hundred feet and it was still making the noise. So he decided it would be a good idea to try to make it stop. He turned the car off and took the key out and it finally stopped. So he started it back up and it was fine. He drove it home with no problems. The next morning I went to start it to go to school and nothing happened. The lights went on and the battery is fine. When I tuen the key to start it nothing happens. There is a little clicking near the starter area But that's it. All my fuses are fine. We tried jumping it that didn't work. Please help me.

Sounds like the starter or maybe just the solenoid failed.

If you're trying to find it - the starter is under the intake manifold.

Re: I think my starter went. Please help me!

Yea thanks guys. I figured it was either the starter or the solenoid. I also figured out that it was under the manifold. I am taking it to a guy on moday that used to work for GM and now owns his own shop. I am going to have him look at it and fix it because I don't want to gotheough all of that work.

It's not as bad of a job as you may think.

that the starter didn't take out the flywheel while it was stuck or a simple job just got lots harder.

Re: I think my starter went. Please help me!

I am just going to let someone replace it that has done it before. I am quite positive I could do it myself but I don't want to screw anything up.
