I bought my '93 STS, in WONDERFUL condition, except for the odd rod knock. I found an identical North*, re-did everything except for the heads & block, but I got the big service manuals, tips from a GREAT MECHANIC at Allen Cadillac, and the shops next to where I did the engine change all by myself " With a Little Help From My Friends"......
You guys on this site are FANTASTIC!! You guys guided me along, and from what I learned, I was able to assist others here... ( & joke around)..
Before I SOLD THE BEASTIE this last Saturday, the car still ran great!! The interior is still working perfect!!
I sold the car to a guy who REALLY WANTED IT and brought his mechanic with him. I told him about the stuck injectors ( white smoke - fuel vapors)...... The radio not recieving reception.......
I was concerned about used parts!! I did include the entire Injector system with the car ( perfect condidtion, from the original engine) ..For parts.
I got $1,500 for the car.
NOW< my attention is to my new-used car.....
( Am I a gluton for punishment?)
I just bought a '93 Mercedes 500 SL. 107,000 miles, the seller just put $5,000 into it mechanically... New Throttle Actuator, Engine Wire Harness, Waterpump, Full tune-up, Brakes, Tires, etc... The Soft Top is perfect, the paint & interior is nearly perfect... The Hard top is perfect.
KBB is about $13,000 for the car, the guy just got married, got laid off and had to sell the car for what he put into it.
The original sticker price for this Benz? $99,000.00. Not including tax/ interest!
I got it for $5,500.......
So, now, I am again thanking you-all for the great times in here!!
Thank you soooo much!!
Peter

If you bought the SL600 I would say you were a glutton for punishment ;-) But the 500 engine should be very reliable now that you've got the wiring harness replaced. The only other thing to watch out for on those cars is the evaporator, but then again, you've got a convertible LOL |

Schweet Ride!!! Benz' are made very well, but if something goes awry in a Mercedes.... it REALLY goes awry!!! Best of luck with your new ride, I'll still hang in my Eldo of 16 years. Almost 200,000 miles and still has "her balls". |

With a front pointing engine, a transmission behind it and the 8-point independent rear drive suspension, it is easier to work on.... It has 316 HP...... A little harder ride but almost as if it was a roadster STS.
The parts.... like plastic, mechanical moving stuff is heavy duty!!
C O N V E R T I B L E......!!
It took this ride to sway me from the Cadillac. |

I may add the 1st gear launch control so if I want to haul ass from a start, it starts from 1st gear, not the 2nd gear, as it's set up, to keep you from burning rubber! |

You are right... They "fit" the look of the car.
Someone in Victorville, Ca. now is the proud owner of it. Maybe he'll join the club? | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
