94 SLS code P041 advice please!! Hey guys. I've done alot of reading here, but this is my 1st post. I have a 94 Seville SLS, 4.6 Northstar, 180k...etc, etc. I have a p041 that I need to get cleared before I can smog and register this bad boy. 1st some history... I got it cheap from an auction; it idled at about 2500 rpm, was over 4 qts low on oil, no AC ( it was 100 degrees), instrument panel fuel econ info just dots and dashes, said "traction control disabled", throwing a bunch of codes, and the transmission was defaulted to 2nd gear. (otherwise no problems...LOL) After lots of online research, I replaced the pcm ($75 at junkyard) and... poof! MOST of my problems magically disappeared. Shifts fine, AC cold, inst panel displays, ect. BUT, still have code P041 and S030. Not too worried about the RSS code yet, but advice would be appreciated on that also. My main concern now is the P041 (no cam reference signal from icm) that kicks on my check engine light just as fast as I can clear it. Again, after research, I decided to replace the cam sensor (but wasn't very confident that it would cure my problem, and was not happy when I saw where it was located) Cleared code, started engine... No dice. Took 5 seconds for CEL, set code P041. So What next?? Oh ya, by the way I didn't swap PROMs when changing the pcm, so I'll try that just in case. Then I was thinkin that the junkyard should have the icm also so I might try that next. Does this sound like I'm on the right track?? Thanks, your expertise is MUCH appreciated. |
