96 eldorado trunk and fuel release?

Remove this ad
Hey guys I have a 96 Eldorado, everything is great on it, but can't get the buttons on the console or my remote to work? Could this be a fuse or something else ? I have been scouring the net for info and can't seem to find any? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have checked the valet switch and that is in the off position so I know that its not that

And I am pretty sure it's not a fuse because my power door locks are working fine

When I press the buttons theres no noise etc coming from anything back there and I checked the wires all are in good shape

You'd have to check the FSM. Maybe the owners manual.

Re: 96 eldorado trunk and fuel release?

First of all hope your valet button is not pressed in
Second:
Both the fuel door and trunk releases are powered from the 20A Convenience fuse (located in the trunk) and controlled from the 10A Radio fuse (also in the trunk).
Each circuit has it's own relay controlled by the PZM. So there is a Fuel Door release relay (trunk compartment relay center#2) and a Trunk release relay (also in the trunk relay center#1).
If your remote works but not the button then is the valet button, if none work but the radio works then is probably the Convenience fuse.

That was the first thing I checked as it seems to be common.....I will check that fuse in the morning and let you guys know, ya radio def works just fine, I will check tomorrow and let u guys know, I appreciate all the help and feedback I have gotten thusfar

One other question where are those relay centers, I can find the fuse box in the back but no other relay center?

Re: 96 eldorado trunk and fuel release?

The relays are bellow the fuses about (5 inches) but on the other side of the black plastic cover. You need to remove the cover to access the relays (either that or the rear seat back rest). Relay center # 1 is the left (driver’s side) most one.
