Maybe, but maybe you gain 1/3 HP switching to straight pipe (or straight pipe surrounded by a muffler shell and some fiber glass in between) and constant headache when driving. The choices are Corsa, Magnaflow, Dynomax (man that's loud), Walker, Borla... No one but Walker makes direct fit mufflers for your car (but you wouldn’t like those from your post). |

But I don't want it so you can't tell that it's a v-8. I am the kind of guy who takes pride in having a big engine and wants people to know j have one. |

I've used several of their products over the years and they are anything but loud. I've been very satisfied.
I put Dynomax Super Turbos on my 94 and 95 STS when the originals rotted out and they sounded great. A touch louder than stock, though enough to give the car a decent sound and they didn't drone. In fact, I had wished they were louder. It also probably chopped 20 lbs of dead weight off the car as they were half the size of those huge factory units. Cleaned up the look of the car at the rear too.
I have Magnaflow on my Camaro and I think it sounds perfect. In fact I'm seriously thinking of putting a pair on my 99 STS. There are some youtube videos of STSs with Magnaflows, Flowmasters and other brands...check it out. |

I'm in your same situation, I had one of my mufflers rust off and it sounds mean!!! But it's not the greatest idea to leave just one on, and it's extremely loudso later this week I think I'm going to the exhaust shop and having them cut off the other muffler and replace them with glass packs. Should be quieter than now and have a nice tone. |

Well I guess is just a matter of taste (witch is nothing to be discussed) I have seen some (in fact 2) Sevilles with smaller mufflers and to my taste looks to empty. Is either because I am used to it or what ever but the factory mufflers are perfect size to me. As for loudness, I do have some small hole on the back topside of the right muffler and for some reason that I can understand is not affecting the sound level (not noticeably at least). My new mufflers are now in the storage waiting for the catalytic converter to arrive (is now in New Jersey according to USPS). Sure hope is coming in good shape since is a very rare package: one of the last ’99 Eldorado OEM Catalytic Converters. Although it was quite pricey, now that I am thinking … man I was so lucky to find this one.
Probably 2 weeks for now I will have a brand new exhaust sure hope will get quieter. Years ago I remember on a very smooth road straight line doing ~60MPH the engine was completely silent, now in the same circumstances I kind of hear a faint hum. |

The only way to "open it up more" is to replace the factory system from the cat all the way back. The factory system is roll-bent, so quite a lot of the various pipes and bends are crimped undersize. The OEM cats are already high-flow units, so no problems there: the restrictions are in the pipes themselves.
A good exhaust shop can mandrel bend/weld a 3" to 2.5" Y s/s system in a long morning, using a straight-through resonator and a pair of Magnaflows or whatever floats your boat. Weld on a decent pair of polished s/s tips. For a good system you'll pay bucks - for more noise from a pair of mufflers, but no performance gains, half that. (More noise is not power, it's bling.)
CORSA does not make a cat-back for your car - or for any FWD model prior to 1999, I think - so that's out, BUT they do make separate resonators and mufflers. Maybe a phone call would shed some light.......and at anything other that WOT a CORSA is pretty quiet. |

They also sell the tips in single, dual (shown) and slant oval. Incredibly electropolished s/s. Tonight, in the garage, they look exactly like the first picture, almost 3 years back. Here's a rear view last year. www.corsaperformance.com |
