How to program BOSE system in my Seville STS?

Remove this ad
Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a Cadillac Seville STS with factory original BOSE system, it was great and famous channels of radio were saved and just by steering wheel controls I could switch between them, UNTIL I pushed memory seat buttons for adjusting seat and wheel and mirrors for myself, it worked, but it cleared all saved radio channels. I tired to reprogram BOSE radio based on car manual, but it does not work! Radio scans AM,FM1, and FM2 fruitless and finds just some ridiculous and weak (quality of signal) channels!
Any suggestions how to program this BOSE system?

Try pulling battery power. Not sure that will help, but can't hurt.

Hi, you mean I disconnect battery which is under rear sits, and then reconnect it for restarting BOSE system?

Yep - pull the battery negative cable and let it all sit for a half hour. Carefully reconnect and start from scratch. Be careful - disconnect the rear heated seat connector, if you have it, on the passenger side just under the seat cushion.

Do you have an owner's manual with the Bose programming sequence in it ?

When you enter into the car unlock-it with the remote you always use. Then put the key into ignition and just to make sure the car really knows is you press the memory seat recall setting you will use. Make sure the remote and key used are for the same driver as the button you press to recall your settings (i.e. if the remote is driver 1, then press driver 1 button).
Now program your radio station (seek to find station, press and hold button 1-6 to store).
Then go outside lock the car and unlock it again to test if the stations are the same.
Again very important, check the number on the back of the remote, must be the same as the button you press to recall your seat/mirror position. If it is the same but unlocking with the remote the radio is OK but pressing the seat/mirror recall button (apparently the same number) the radio stations are lost then either somebody swapped the case between the two remotes or programmed the remotes the other way.
Normally there should be no need to press the seat/mirrors recall button, unlocking the car with the remote should take care of it, the button is required if the remote is not used.

OK, I try it. My STS has rear heater seats too, will reconnect them too. I have owners manual too, but following it I could not program BOSE system. Radio signals sounds weak for me! Firstly, I though I might have done something wrong to antenna, because I lost my stations! Bu then realized that it was setting memory bottons that resets saved stations! But the problem is seeking and scanning radio, I could not find any high quality stations (from signal power point of view)!

Great information, thanks! I did not know most of them! I just had remote number 2, when I purchased the car it had just this remote and key! The problem that I have is I could not find any station from radio with acceptable signal power! As I can remember FM should be full of stations, but I could get a few weak stations now!

Re: How to program BOSE system in my Seville STS?

Maybe your antenna module is gone, on your car you have 2 antennas one AM and one FM. There is a module that switches between the two based on whether you select AM of FM. That module revives 2 signals: radio antenna ON (when you turn the radio ON, same signal that will raise the mast in the car equipped with power mast antenna) and one signal called FM composite signal (or something like that), that is used to switch between the two antennas.
Is your RDS on, this function can be used to find the strongest local signal for a certain station in the memory (that might have been stored in a different area where that station is on a different frequency). This function is used to automatically readjust the frequency as you drive: say you drive between LA and San Diego and you listen to station X (FM) when you leave LA. Half way as you close to San Diego the HU will switch the radio frequency to the one used in San Diego (assuming this station X is emitted in both cites on different frequency).
Well RDS does more than that, also displays the station's name and song you liten to (if the station has this feature).

This is what I was thinking.

Re: How to program BOSE system in my Seville STS?

Yes, my BOSE system is equipped with RDS system, and probably it is the source of problem. This weekend will allocate some for playing with it to see can I make it to work.

Thanks guys,
