Steering Column Lock on 98 up Sevilles

Do 98+ Sevilles have a steering wheel lock? My 2000 STS doesn't lock when the key is in the off position or removed from the ignition switch. Since its a dash mounted switch there must be some kind of mechanical linkage between the key and the steering column if it is suppossed to lock. Can't figure out if my column is broken or if this is normal. Last car I had with a dash mounted ignition switch was a 68 Camaro way back in high school and it didn't have a steering wheel lock.

I've never tried to lock mine up before?

My 2002 is in the garage with the wheel in the EXIT position. It is not locked - hard to turn, but not locked. The shift stick is locked in P.

The steering wheel does not lock at any time.

I believe if the key is in the column, it locks. If it is in the dash, it does not.
