I am wondering if anyone has a solution for a strange problem I seem to be having with my Seville. Over the last couple days my 2001 Seville STS has been simultaneously repositioning the drivers seat to the #2 Driver position when I unlock the doors with factory RKE Fob #1. The doors unlock fine but the seat moves into #2 memory position. The ignition recognizes key #1 when inserted and repositions everything back to Driver #1 settings. I locked and unlocked her with RKE Fob #2 and it recognizes key #2 in ignition and positions everything accordingly. Shut off and exit vehicle and things adjust to exit position and I lock and unlock with RKE #2 fob as normal, without the drivers seat moving out of position. I understand that RKE Fob #1 & #2 emit different radio frequencies and from what I have found searching here the common problems are buttons not working at all. Any thoughts, help, or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks |

It seems strange that the power locks would adjust the seat but only when using remote 1. It is like the car has two parallel states being, where things that are not working in Driver 1 work in Driver 2 or vice versa. Would disconnecting the battery help to reset anything to default or some other procedure help clear a memory? |

So I cleaned up the remote #1 circuit board and battery connections and am off to buy a new battery and see if that stops the power seat from moving by itself when unlocking the car with the RKE Remote Keyless Entry #1. It is weird that RKE fob #2 doesn't cause the power seat to move when unlocking the doors with the #2 remote. It is almost like the car has two different working conditions depending on #1 or #2 Driver modes. |

Replaced the #1 RKE fob with a new energizer battery #2032 and followed the 7 sec holding lock and unlock close to the car procedure it says inside the back of the RKE fob. Then I tried the trunk, was fine, gas door, good, tried locks, worked ok, hit unlock and the Drivers seat went into the #2 Drivers Memory setting. I wonder if there is a way to reset the memory of driver 1 and 2 back to default, maybe something is corrupted in the Driver 1 position? It seems to easy to just go out and replace the remote, and I am not sure how the door modules work or go bad but it seems strange that it doesn't have a problem with RKE#2, the drivers seat doesn't move when the unlock is pressed on the remote. |

The DIC will indicate Driver #1 or Driver #2 when you press the unlock button on the fob. What does the DIC say after you press a fob?
Is it possible that someone simply pressed the "memory set" button followed by "2" button with the seat in the #1 position?
Fobs don't use different frequencies, they use a unique identifier code. The numbers on the back of the fob are for identity convenience only. When they are programmed, the first fob identified becomes #1 regardless of the number on the back. Crazy things can happen swapping of key fob recognition would seem nearly impossible. If such has indeed happened, the only thing I can imagine at fault is the RCDLR (remote control door lock receiver) as it is the only thing that identifies fobs.
Have you simply adjusted both the driver #1 and #2 to desired settings and used the memory set? |

The keys and fobs haven't been swapped or changed and when I put the key attached to fob #1 into the ignition and start the car the DIC displays driver #1 and things are normal. I have always used Key Fob #1 and assume always used key #1 as that is what it always displays at start up Driver 1. Up until three days ago using the same #1 Remote when parked the doors would unlock and lights come on and such but the seat never moved from the exit position when the doors unlocked. Now when I approach the car after it has been locked up, parked, and sitting quietly using Remote #1 that is attached to the key that the car always has recognized as key #1 it unlocks the doors but cause the drivers seat to adjust from exit position to driver #2 memory setting. By just pressing the lock or unlock buttons on the RKE with the key out and car off the display only shows security and the high beam blue indicator when the RKE unlock is pressed, but that is when the seat adjusts to #2. Do your guys seats adjust when you use your remote to unlock? I thought they only moved when you did one of the following:
A. inserted key
B. pressed driver 1 or 2 buttons on the door
C. used the controls on the side of the seat
D. pressed exit
E. opened the drivers door after turning off the ignition
Otherwise the Driver 1 and 2 memory seats adjust accordingly when the driver 1 and 2 door buttons are pressed and the same is true when key 1 and 2 is used they both are recognized on the DIC and automatically adjust to the respective memory settings. | | Tags | adjusting, driver, drivers, fob, pressed, recalls, remote, rke, seat, seats, settings, unlock | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
