Can anyone tell me what the procedure is for programming new key fobs for a 2003 STS? The car only came with one and I am purchasing two off of Ebay. Also, what is the best source for an additional master key and valet key?

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Re: Programming New Key Fobs

Take it to a dealer and pay him. You can program 97s and prior yourself, anything new requires the dealer to do it with a TechII.

Re: Programming New Key Fobs

Thats not true Mark. I purchased a new key off ebay for my 2000 STS a few weeks ago. All you have to do is take it somewhere and get it cut to match. Put your original key in your ignition and start the car with it. Remove it and within 15 seconds put the key in and it will be automatically programmed. I dont know where you're getting your information Mark, but you should try not to respond when someone is asking for advice if you dont know for sure. The dealer would have charged him hundreds for something he can do in 15 seconds for free.

Re: Programming New Key Fobs

Thats a key, not a key fob. Thats the little black thing that has 3 or 4 buttons on it that you press to lock or unlock doors, open the trunk or gas cap cover. I think someone else need to read the questions a little bit closer before they jump down someones throut. Keys can be done as you say but he didn't ask how to program a new key, FOBs can't be programmed by anyone other than the dealer, after 98.

Re: Programming New Key Fobs

Hi as others stated key FOBS can only be done with a TechII scanner (dealer), but the actual keys can be brought off ebay for about $8 and programmed at home like OSU411 said.
