you might be lucky im here on cadillac forums right now haha, i have a 93 etc north star and i had the same problem you did.

stupid bose wont play cds and give me alot of errors

. well i gutted out my bose speakers and headunit and bought a sony xplode kit they have at walmart for 90 bucks, you get 2 6x9's ovals and 2- 6.5 round ones and a headunit. and for the trunk i got 2 mtx subs with the audiobahn amp

. i was so confused

so this is what i did, and this is the best way to do it.
FIRST DISCONNECT BATTERY
1. I looked at the cigarette lighter wires and i saw an orange, black, and grey connected to them. Orange is your positive + and the Black was your ground -. on the aftermarket headunit you will have a yellow constant and a red ignition or the other way around. they are both positive + so you will want to wire the 2 positive wires to your orange + wire. and the ground wire goes with the black wire attached to the headunit. i connected my battery and the headunit lit up like i wanted to. but if you use your cigarette lighter this method will not work at all.
2. this may be the hardest part to do, WIRING....you will have to rewire each speaker back to the headunit. also might as well keep the battery disconnected cause you will drain it with the doors open and trunk. this for me was a little frustrating but i got it done, you will need: Clothes Hanger - Duct Tape - small hands - Good bit of speaker wire haha - and a beverage or whatever you prefer

you dont wanna abuse it tho!

to get to the back speakers the best way to wire it is to go from the dash to the bottom center console, under the middle of the seat and pull it by the bottom of the seat belt area. then go hide the wire under that plastic trim and get it back through the seats, loosen the 2 bolts that hold the top part of seat. they are about an 1.5'' long, cant miss them.
3. hopefully you are excited get to know your eldo more by tearing door panels off and the rear seat. its not too difficult but you need patience. and what you want to do with the front speakers is only remove the bose cover and speaker and not the entire thing cause you wont be able to mount speakers anywhere. this way will work and all you have to do is get 2 to 3 screw holes to line up and it will be tight. for the rear speakers you will only have to remove the 2 bolts that hole the top part of the seat so you can pull the it back. then remove those paper bose speakers. you will need to drill holes for the mounting of the speakers, again it isnt hard.
4. subs. if you are down with the subs and stuff and are having a little trouble. let me know.
5. if you have any Questions, shoot me an email at
kbenjamin0106@hotmail.com and i can send you alot of good pictures if you are stuck on something.
6. if you are also interested on how much i paid doing everything including subs, speakers, headunit, and other stuff. IT WAS A $300 DOLLAR JOB! you can still do all this for about half my costings without subs, amp and everything that goes with that.
hopefully this somewhat helped someone with a no sound system eldo..
