2000 ETC torque steer or something more

Yesterday driving home from work I was climbing a long hill behind a pickup truck he was loaded down with dirt. He was driving slow trying to get the old Chevy up the hill. At the top of the hill he stops and waves me by, now being it is a blind hill I creep up doing about 20 Mph until I can see it is clear. Then I mash it to the floor to pass, here is where it gets interesting. When I gave her WOT the tires spun a little then the car started pulling very hard to the left so I started to correct to the right not lifting the throttle it corrected but then just as before it now started pulling very hard to the right just missing the guy waving me by. It just about stopped my heart! keep in mind this all happened in about 2 seconds.

My question is, is this torque steer or something more? It drives normal until you give her WOT then the fight is on to keep her on the road.

    Thanks

Sounds like normal (for 300 Ft-Lb to the front wheels) torque steer to me. My 01 STS will do the same thing if you get on it right, and so does my Dads 99s (both current and previous). Until you get used to the car, you might end up chasing it a little (left and right). Still not quite as fun as trying to keep the rear tires from passing you in a RWD.

Torque steer only pulls to the right.

I'd inspect the front end. Tie rods, bearings etc. Sounds like something is loose.

I got it state inspected about 3 weeks ago. It drives straight, but there is a annoying rattle when I hit cracks/holes in the road. I'll have to check it out this weekend. Also sometimes when I'm stopped and I turn the wheel to the right it vibrates while turning but not all the time.
