Hello all, ok here's the deal, I just got a 93 Eldorado with a bunch of issues. I have the manual which I've read and learned a few things, but can't really tell where to start. Here's what I know is wrong with it, needs another transmission, needs a radio(aftermarket was stolen), and the passenger side key lock is missing. Ive been reading the forums here looking for some of the questions I have to be answered with not a lot of luck so here goes:
1. How do I know if I have the bose setup.
2. Is it better to get a new, used, or rebuilt transmission.
3. Anyone here in chicago know a good mechanic that wont charge an arm and a leg for a full diagnostic and replace the transmission amongst other things that will come eventually.
Thats all I'll ask for now , oh 1 more thing does anyone have pics of an original 93 Eldorado I'd like to see what else might be missing. Thanks in advance.

You can tell what options your car came with via the service parts identification label that is located on the back of the spare tire well cover. Look through the codes and see if you have a U1K code. If you do, then it came with the Bose option, if you see a code UW7 then it came with the base radio. |

Ok pulled the codes looks like I had the base radio, thats good considering how people said it would be a pain to try to get around. Is there a place I can check the rest of these codes? |

Is your car the base model (ESC) or the ETC, is it 4.6 or 4.9 engine?. |

What is the tire speed rating on the driver's door sticker - S, H, or W/Z ? |

Now you have the privilege of buying Z-rated tires to go with the sticker rating. The car will go as fast as the road and wind will allow. 150+. If your new car has S or H speed rated tires installed now DO NOT, under any circumstances, try to exceed 112 for S and 130 mph for H. |

Is there anymore things I should know? Also does anyone have a repair manual, I'm gonna attempt to call myself a mechanic lol. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
