I'm glad I'm not the ...
Is "nonsensical" sort of a parallel to "tongue in cheek" ??
Tiger, if you're a Network Admin, I sure hope you don't get paid for murdering the King's English.
As far as Posts 5 & 6, you received an answer and you acknowledged the fact. So it's water under the bridge. Do yourself a big favor and subscribe your car to www.alldatadiy.com for three years. There's more car info about your car and cars in general in there than you'll ever be able to read but, and you should appreciate this, the reference material is merely a keystroke away.
My thanks to the submariner409...he's a god-send with his knowledge! he's already helped me several times with my Eldo...
I read the tech articles he spoke of (and learned a lot about my Northstar), but one question I have was not addressed there: I recently got the "Check Oil level" light (and yes, it was 2 quarts low), and after topping it off (back to mid stick-mark), I cannot get the light to go off. It reoccurs every time I start the car, and I usually hit the info reset button, but it's aggravating....do I have to disconnect the postive battery cable to reset the sensor system?
Clean the connector at the sensor - the nylon looking thing just on the passenger side of the oil filter itself. If that doesn't do it, maybe sensor time. No more trouble than another drain plug during your next oil/filter change, but the thing is around $40 if I remember correctly. Look in www.rockauto.com under 'engine', 'oil level sensor' (if there's a (!) icon, click on it), or call Luke in Parts at Lindsay Cadillac >>>> over there, M-F, 9-5 EDT.
...............Just saw itschrome's post - throw in another half pint of oil and see what happens. Not a problem unless you go past the MAX or FULL mark.
Thanks, fellas....I'll throw another half-quart or so in her before I go to dinner tonight, and see if the message dies; also, having learned a lot about the Northstar from the tech page, I'll be trying the ol' WOT trick tomorrow on the Interstate...the old fella who owned the car before me treated it like a trailer queen; I'm gonna take her out for a hot stroll tomorrow!
