Can anyone help me with one of plug under my Cadillac's hood?
Probably mechanics forgot to plug it in and now we can't find a
place where we should put it. I have no idea how to describe it
so I made two photos of this plug and whole cable:
(we have 1999 Cadillac Seville)
---------------------------------------
Unfortunately I have manual in German so it's hard to get
info like this. Please help me with identification.
PS: Maybe it has a connection with alerts on my display? (ABS and TC
is turned on )
Thanks for all opinions and solutions.
Regards from Poland,
Michael |

STS owners can try to check it under their hoods
I only need to connect it with correct part so
You don't have to look after additional information about this plug
Once again - thanks for all opinions or advices. |

unfortunately (or fortunately) everything is alright with them:
It's break fluid tank:
This plug is smaller than missed "PED 40".
I'm still trying to plug it somewhere
Please somebody check in yours Cadillac, because
it's untypical car in my region and mechanics can't figure it out |

The underhood lamp - emergency engine compartment illumination, which is 'hot" only when parking lamps are on.
The nylon fitting and tab are the retainers which slip into holes near the hood rear insulation cover.
Not a good picture, but you can see the pigtail running up into the underhood sound insulation. Double click to enlarge. |

But... I don't have an Underhood Lamp
Damn.. Somebody removed it from this car
I guess that it's impossible to find an original lamp in Poland.
I'll try to find it somewhere. Anyway - now it's my problem
Thanks for help! |

PED 40? www.gmpartsdirect.com, CATALOG tab, load "GM alternate catalog"; 1999 - Cadillac - Seville; "hood and components": Underhood lamp, $15.62 US.
The lamp itself is a gravity/mercury switched socket, and the wiring is only energized when the parking lamps are turned on, so it will not light during the day with the hood open...........
Hope this helps.
If gmpartsdirect cannot ship, e-mail Luke, in Parts, at Lindsay Cadillac, 9 - 5 EDT (+4 GMT) >>>>> over there, or contact him through the Vendor's threads at the top of the main Cadillac Forums page. |

Thanks for help! | Might not have came with it from the factory. I know I have unused plugs floating around the car. Its easiest to put the wiring in at the beginning if the car is optioned with it or not on something like that, then put the light in if it is supposed to be there. |

Mom's 99 SLS had a hood light, so I would assume the pricier STS would also, and the part is listed in several GM references.
Take a peek at the link I posted. |

submariner409 - thanks fot this link. Probably I will order from their catalogue
I also found it here: http://www.reliablegmparts.net/PD-19...aspx?MakeID=12
Can you check if it's the same lamp?
My friend is going to US soon so he will be able to buy it there
and ship back to me
One more time thanks for help. Cheers! |

That is the correct lamp - if your friend is in the US for a period of time, he might be able to do somewhat better, price-wise, from gmpartsdirect, but, having been stationed in Naples, Italy for three years and driving a 1965 Chevelle SS 327, I understand the difficulty in obtaining parts......... | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
