Question service engine soon, Clicking sound?

got this 92 eldorado 136,00 miles 4.9 engine. started it up one morning and got this clicking noise that seems to be coming from somewhere behind the oil filter(driver side by blower motor and transmission stick), service engine light is also on. puled the codes:

(E026) ......................................... Shorted Throttle Signal Switch
(E030) .................................................. . ISC RPM out of range
(E040) .................................... Power steering Pressure switch open
    (E075) ................................................ Intermittent VSS Signal

    most of these is history.

    any help is appreciated.

E048 is what turned on the SES light. Not sure about the clicking sound.

First thing to do is open the throttle plate and look down the TB. You will see two EGR tubes staring back at you. Be sure that they are open and not carboned closed. If so, rod them out.

Yes, that is the EGR "valve". It is controlled by an electrical solenoid and feeds the exhaust gases into the engine via the EGR tubes in the TB.

    thanks for your help Ranger.
i got the Service light to go out. turned out to be the tube on the throttle body going to the egr had come off.

and for the clicking the mechanic told me to add some thicker oil. hopefully this works.

you know any thing about heat and blower motors?

Not going to work. The ticking is because of your E026. What's making the ticking sound is the Idle Speed Control Motor. It's currently blind because of your shorted Throttle Position sensor so when you shut the car off it will try to find where the throttle should be for the next startup. Since it can't see where it is, it tries then fails a few times and makes that clicking noise.

Edit: Wait, is the ticking happening while the engine is running? or right after you turn it off?

Have you checked the HVAC housing on the firewall that houses the blower motor. If that has cracked all your air could be escaping under the hood.
