I think its time for a tune up amongst other things. Im trying to get some suggestions on brands for plugs, wires, air/fuel/oil filters as well as anything else I am missing... I also need pads and rotors I realize I could probably go with replacing everything with Delco's, but I was looking for something with a little more performance. Do the Platinum or Iridium plugs make a difference (worth the $9 per plug)? |

A friend of mine has iridium plugs in his Northstar and loves them, but to me weren't worth the price. |

Just go with the Delco plugs specifed in the manual. Don't improvise. As far as the other parts go, just buy quality. Delco's day as a premier parts source has passed, I assume for reasons of cost containment. The Delco wires I got were not, visually at least, of the same quality as the Delcos they replaced. |

Many times over.
Your car takes #41-950 ACDelco Platinum Professional plugs, gap is set at .050", torque to 13 ft/lb, no anti-seize. Use the proper ACDelco wire set. Remove the coils from the ICM and clean every contact. Follow the wiring diagrams. (They're also in here a hundred times......). Change the oil and filter, good brand of 10W-30 and proper WIX filter. Same for the air filter.
For plugs and wire look at www.rockauto.com. |

Thanks for the overly confident cocky response . Simple questions require simple answers, I was just trying to get some info. I did use the search tool (I think that's what its called???) on the blue like colored bar towards the top. I kept getting information on tuning N*. I already use WIX filters purchased from Rock Auto, just wanted to see if there was anything better. I was also aware to replace plugs with Delco's, but once again as I stated I was looking for something with more performance (if applicable). By the way, thanks for the pics from ALL DATA! |

People ask for advice and then when you tell them something they don't want to hear they act like it's all your fault that they're on a fool's errand.

No later than 3000k later I got misfires, obviously I was looking for everything else but the spark plugs (witch were new, expensive and on expect good quality). 20k later in desperation I changed the spark plugs again with much cheaper AC Delco at Ranger’s and few other members advice (since day one). Well 40k later no misfire what so ever. I did change the spark plug wire set too (also AC Delco) and I must second NickySantoro, they don’t look the same quality (including no more cylinder numbering), but so far so good can’t complain.
Anyway conclusion … tires, oil, light bulbs, go with what ever you feel like, for the rest stick with OEM. |
