Help with 2002 Seville stereo

this morning the volume on my stereo faded to next to nothing, i turned it back up and after 5-10 seconds it faded back to nothing again, it also does it with a CD, has anyone else had this problem?

Does it have the automatic volume control function? If so, try turning it off. If that solves the problem, you know where it lies; if it doesn't you know it's somewhere else.
