Next, there's a procedure for adding additional readouts to your driver info center, add in battery voltage, if your alternator pulley is bad or it's slipping on it you're not charging correctly, do a WOT and watch voltage, if it drops below 12V guess what, your system has a weak charge or your battery is going flat, I've seen this happen when my alternator went. Also a brake light indicator and a ding from the car can indicate all sorts of bad things, hence pull codes. You usually get a charging problem message but who knows...
Then instead of driving with a person laying on the hood, park your car, have a 2nd person give it some gas while you slowly release tension on the serp belt, if the squeeking stops it's one of your pulleys. Remove belt (after you turn the car off), and spin each by hand, you'll feel a grinding/toasted pulley, replace.
