Reverse lights, how do i replace them?

hello there, i have a 1994 eldorado and a while ago i had noticed that my drivers side reverse light (built into trunk lid next to license plate) was out. Im going to assume it has something to do with the light-compartment being half full with water (which is now ice). can anyone tell me how to remove the light cover so i can fix this? Also, ever since it had become under 30 degrees here in upstate new york my turn signals have not been working. the only way i can get my turn signals to work is if i put the left turn signal on and let it sit in the on position for about 20 minutes straight, and even then if i dont use them constantly they stop working, any advice? much appreciated

OK, but first I'm going to tell you that this is the procedure for a 98+ Seville. I'm going to take a swag that its close.

• Pop the deck lid and remove the carpet liner under the deck lid. Its held in place by small thumb screws.
• Remove the center lamp assembly, its held in place by small thumb screws too or small nuts. Remove all the retainer screws and nuts.
• Once that is done you'll see the sockets, twist and turn then remove them. Its not a bad job.

Maybe somebody can confirm that the 94MY is the same as 98+, I would expect so. But, I've been wrong sometimes too. Good luck!

Not the same at all, Frank.

You must remove the license plate first, then behind it there will be 4 screws that hold the whole silver section (reverse lights, license plate lamps) on to the trunk lid. Should be fairly simple to replace after that..

As far as removing the reverse lamp covers; AFAIK they are plastic-welded to the silver piece. Good luck removing them... Maybe you'll luck out and find the leak behind the silver piece and can apply silicone sealant to it? Otherwise, that whole piece goes for about $100 at junk yards.
