Only picture GM provided but it does come from there Heritage Collection. They have over 200 cars going to auction this week. The other jewel that I noticed went off last night was an Allante Pace Car 1 of the 3 they said. Mike

    Re: STSi?

    Yup that's the real deal...

    Of course:

THE VEHICLE IS NOT CERTIFIED TO COMPLY WITH ANY FEDERAL, STATE OR LOCAL LAWS, RULES OR REGULATIONS AND MAY NOT BE DRIVEN ON PUBLIC ROADS. This vehicle will be conveyed to Buyer with NO MANUFACTURER STATEMENT OF ORIGIN (MSO) or title and the vehicle does not have a complete VIN.
Which means you have a ~$15,000 paper weight... Why would any "car guy" buy a car that you can't drive anywhere...

I will never get this Barrett Jackson thing

    Re: STSi?

So what if I have an SLS??? Im going for the looks of the STSi and that can be achieved whether I have an SLS or STS buddy. Besides I'm faster than a stock STS. With an open exhaust, modded intake, and E3 plugs, that gave me the extra power to take an STS. Not off the line, but from 50 mph and above...

    Re: STSi?

kdseville has a point, a 4.0 Aurora motor with 3.11:1 gears can take on a stock STS with free flowing mufflers/no cat. Well we tied anyway. I'm sure the LD8 could probably get a bit ahead.

The STS has more potential but the SLS can do very well too.

    Re: STSi?

I thought it was the opposite, an SLS can beat a STS off the line but the STS would kick it ass down the road?

    Re: STSi?

The STS is geared for performance with 3.71 gears (i think) and the SLS is geared for MPG with 3.11 gears (again, I think).

The STS will hve an STS from the line but if you remove the Spd Limiter from an SLS, then there is no way an STS will beat an SLS.

    Re: STSi?

Neither cars are race cars. If want a super fast car on the cheap, buy a Camaro or Trans Am. I find that 132MPH is plenty fast, though I've only had it to 100.

    Re: STSi?

The final drive ratio is only part of the equation. The SLS also produces it's peak torque at a lower RPM than the STS does. That is what makes the SLS quicker off the line.

Uh no... it doesn't work that way... neither car is top end limited by the red line and gearing... the car is limited by air friction and rolling resistance. An unlimited STS will top out at about 155 MPH... Your unlimited SLS will top out about 8-10 MPH less since it makes 25 fewer horse power.
