I dont have any keys

I just bought a 94 seville sls and it came with no keys. It still starts and i wasant that worried until I got all the other stuff fixed. I bought a replacement ignition from advanced auto and am going to the caddy dealership today to get a door key. Are these the best ooptions and if so how do I swap the ignition to the new one. Also being able to start the sls without the key will that make my security light stay on ?? Thanks fo rthe help

Now that's a feature! I've only seen one other vehicle do that in my lifetime.

LOL hows the title look. Either the key is broken off inside or that car's been stolen.

I would let the dealer repair the ignition. That way you'll get the proper key.

I can lock the vehicle and have done some other theft prevention so it cant be stolen until it gets fixed. No a real looker so i am not to worried. What also did that. I used to have an old 80 silverado that was that was also.
Has anybody ever swapped an inginition in a seville?

I swapped the ignition on few of my parents or relatives cars, none Cadillac though. I do remember (even they were different makers and models) the procedure was pretty much the same: remove all the plastics around in order to get to the screw (screws) holding the thing in place. Once loose turn the key to some position (varies from car to car) and then pull the module out (two of them had a secret – well some how hidden pin that you suppose to push in to release the module while the key in a certain position other wise is locked).
I think I saw a post somewhere here about replacing the ignition and I think the key trick is also required here. But since you say you can turn-it anyway…you should be fine.

The title is fine, so i know its not stolen. I was going to have a dealer fix it but for a car that cost me 400 in stead of 1200 because of it a a small ground problem i think I will fix it myself. I did a 98 grand prix a few years ago for my sister in law, wasnt that bad. just wanted to see if there was any special trick. I am more worried about the security light ataying on if I put an aftermarket switch in . I got one at advanced for about 40 that comes with keys. I am going to try and in stall on sunday. Any helpfu lhint befor then would be great!

Oh…aftermarket, well I am not sure will have the resistor (most likely not) so I guess you need to find out your VAT (kind of difficult without a key). Well there are just so many variations so you can go to something like Radioshak and buy one of each matching all available resistor values and try them until will work. Come to think, ok the module is turning mechanically but what about the resistor, how does it goes around that?
