Mommy and Daddy still pay my bills? I have been saving up for my car since I was 8 years old. By the time I was 16 I have 7k to spend in MY OWN MONEY!!! I pay my OWN insurence and my OWN gas. When ever I go out with friends I pay with MY OWN ****ING MONEY OK! I'm not just some snot nose spoiled brat who gets everything handed to him. I am a hard worker, going to College and working 40 hours a week. I have responsibilities like you do, so what if you HATE street racing, thats cool, I get it! But don't say I'm a Mommy and Daddy brat who has everything handed to me. cause I don't ok. Watch what you say next time alright? |

At 18-19 y/o I wouldn't expect you to have the slightest clue what I'm talking about because mommy and daddy still pay your bills and you still think you're invincible...
If you can't afford to drive 2 hours to a track move, oh wait you still live at home with mommy and daddy, again, since they pay your bills maybe you should ask them how they feel about having to possibly pay for your wrecklessness? | Its funny how you just assume that my "mummy and daddy" pay for everything just because I am 19. Please don't assume, you don't even know me. I know EXACTLY what I would be doing to others if I do injure or kill myself. I am sure people here are able to reach 100+ on their tracks because we all know people don't go that fast on public roads.

If you're on a known straight alone, smart and actually have a little age and experience behind ya' then it's relatively safe provided you don't get a ticket.. Compare it to sex... the safest is to use protection but alot of people don't, but if you're with someone you know and are smart about things, it's usually relatively safe... But I'm sure as heck ain't gonna get on here and preach at anyone! Life is full of risk and people will chance worse things...
I've had my 96' STS to 140 a couple times and that was fast enough for me... |

It got up to that speed pretty quickly, I was a little surprised.

I drove it on the Autobahn at 151-152 mph (I was afraid to look down at the speedometer; and if I remember right you reach the end of the dial/numbers, so it is difficult to get it exact). To avoid traffic I did it at 6am. It was very scary, and the car felt like it was so low that it was touching the ground. I don't remember what tires were on it, but they were new. I was 30 then, and I wouldn't do it again. Should go to a race track for such things. |

I think he may have overqualified it with the kid and money stuff, its an easy generalization to make, and unfortnantly its true more often then not (and in the case above, it seems it was not the case, but both sides seemed to be a bit overzelous, one in assuming, and one in rebutle). Most forums frown on any talk of illegal activity, hence you will get alot of "dont" and I agree, talking about it is just silly and smacks of "look how cool I am" (street raceing in non legal areas, as every one i have seen is an accident waiting to happen or did happen). As for the original posters question, I too am interested in what these cars can do. And all my blathering isnt against or for any of this, what you do is your business.
So the STS can do 150 roughly? better then my old vette it seems, not to shabby.. sure rides better then the vette

I like doing it. I dont really race at all, I just film all of the races and post them on you tube and what not. All though I am racing a 02 Mustang GT tonight :-), I will be selling my caddy in a few months. I need something I can mod and run. Thats what im about. I'm getting either an SS camaro, SS cobalt, or C5 vette. Im gonna miss my Caddy and will MOST DEFF be getting another one in a few years. This time I will make sure it's and STS that's Z rated :-) |

Some cars are meant to travel at high speeds over 100 mph and others aren't. The Eldorado is a good car, but it isn't designed for 150 mph. I have a '97 3000GT Twin Turbo, and it is designed for speed ... believe me. After driving both at speed, you can really tell the difference. An Eldorado at speeds over 120 mph is basically a projectile with little control. You may not realize it, but you have lost most of the stability of the car by that speed unless it is designed with that in mind. You think because the car will go that fast, you have control over it, but believe me, you don't! Please be careful!!!! It isn't worth your life to drive 150! |

No component breaks of fails til' after that occurs. These car are terrible for hi-po. Suurre they go 150. If yer going over 100 yer fu-ed. The consequences are spontanious. |
