The first part of my question is should underneath of the vacuum cover, be covered in oil? and second I know cannot restart the car. I did release the pressure from the fuel line and soaked up the little excess gas that came out. The car turns over but no fuel is getting to the fpr. Is there something that I can do to inject fuel? Thanks alot on this 2 part part question. |

Age: 61 | | | Re: Problem starting 93 eldorado It is normal for the inside of the manifold to be oily. That is crankcase gases from the PCV valve that settle out after the engine is shut down.
As soon as you turn on the ignition the fuel pump should pressurize the fuel rail. How do you know that no fuel is getting to the FPR? Do you have fuel pressure? How much?
As far as the oily tail pipes, go to the top of the page and click on TECHNICAL ARCHIVES and read up on oil consumption and full throttle acceleration. |

I will definitly do the wot and see if that helps the smoke out of the pipes. As for the non starting, I havent checked the pressure since i put the cover back on, but do you think it could be something else, as in a seal is not being made, i just assumed it was the fpr because i took it off to make sure the connections are made right. I can hear the fuel pump pressurizing the fuel system. Any ideas? thanks |

Age: 61 | | | Re: Problem starting 93 eldorado If you hear the pump running, then it is working. The only question is if it is putting out enough pressure. If the FPR was leaking you would see it when you pressurize the system with the manifold cover off (DO NOT CRANK). I'd check the fuel pressure to be sure it is a fuel problem and not electrical. |

It seems as if the fpr is leaking from the bottom connection, as the connection to the fuel rail is fine. I going to look on the tech tips for the installation and see if theres a ring missing. Other than that is it a bad thing that theres that much gas in the manifold? and should i soak it up, let it dry, anything like that? thanks. |

No wonder it would not start. Soak it up, then turn the key on to pressurize the system and see where the leak is coming from. Most likely the "O" ring seals. I think there are 2. |

You said "oil under the vacuum cover".....does that mean oil under the engine "beauty cover" and all over the outside of the intake manifold and fuel rail assembly? If so it sounds as if you have a disconnected/broken PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) line or fitting. On the rear cam cover, passenger side, there should be a formed plastic line which runs to a vacuum source, on your car maybe to the throttlebody. On the front cam cover, driver's side, another plastic line which runs to an atmospheric clean air source. This system sends all the nasty crankcase vapor to be burned in the engine. A disconnected line blows oil all over the place. |

I notice gas coming from the connection at the bottom, which to me doesnt seem right becuase it is metal on metal without a rubber gasket, and it wiggles alittle too, as in its not tight in there. Should there be a rubber connector? Thanks, Ill up load pictures later tonight |

This is the identical one i have for my car. Its the part to the farthest right, that connects straight down to the line coming straight up, from the pump. Like i said, its just metal to metal, and i cannot figure out if theres should be a rubber gasket there. thanks guys i do appreciate the time |

I think there are two. A large one and a small one. In all the years I've had a Northstar I've yet to have to change one. Sub will confirm or correct what I've said. |
