help with theft system

Remove this ad
hi all,
im getting a code e058 which is a passkey problem, I'm not really in an area i am worried about theft in, so is there a way to bypass the system?
I keep having to disconnect the battery to get it to start again which is really annoying.

thanks

Re: help with theft system

Yes there is a way to bypass the system. Do a search. If you don't find it here, do an internet search on GM VATS. There are several sites that tell you how to do it, but DO NOT buy their kits. All you need is some resistors from Radio Shack that match the resistor in your key shank. Measure it with DVM.

Re: help with theft system

thanks ranger
I have another question I hope someone could help with. I am also getting code e020, open fuel pump circuit. could this be causing that code to? the car starts and runs, but it will nearly stall intermitantly while im driving. it almost feels like the fuel is cutting out, but i had the fuel pump replaced about a month ago, thinking that was the problem.
any feedback helps
thanks

Re: help with theft system

I doubt that the two are related. It IS stalling because of an intermittent open circuit. Check the connector and the wiring. If they are OK, then I would guess that the pump is failing again.

Sure it is nice to feel comfortable about your surroundings and where you reside.
But never ever get so comfortable that you have your self convinced that you shouldnt be concerned, or shouldnt need to protect your self from becoming a victim.

You hear it all the time. "Never would have thought it could have happened here"........

Thats the whole idea eh !!!
You dont commit crimes where its expected. You commit crimes where its least expected. It makes it a lot easier that way.
BTW...Where abouts was it you said you lived.

Re: help with theft system

is there a way to completely disengage the theft system!? (I will do a search also). I have 3 vat keys that work so really no problems there, but have an annoying problem of the theft system acting crazy since I have an aftermarket in. Would like to just disengage the system completely.

Even with a nice aftermarket system in the car, I don't care about theft protection. If someone is going to steal my 1999 car at this point let them, I will cash in on the insurance money and find another nice caddy.
