1996 STS Fuel Injector No power?

Remove this ad
Hello. I have a 1996 STS and I swaped the engine and transmission with a 1999 engine and transmission. My mechanic is almost done. The car failed to start because there is no power going to the fuel injectors. We know this because he hooked up some king of tester and the light failed to come on. I bought a repair manual to troubleshoot but it didn't include the fuel injector wires. Can anyone help us figure out why there is no power. Your response is much appreciated.

You may have a theft code activated which will have to be cleared and reset. Fuel system shutdown sounds like something an attempted theft would trigger.

One of our GM Techs will have to figure this one out.......

You and your mechanic read the stickys at the top of this and Northstar Performance on "How to pull codes" and "Got Codes? Look Here". That may have a clue.

Re: 1996 STS Fuel Injector No power?

Well I pulled the codes and they were somethin like P0201-P0209 which are the fuel injector codes. Also the dash reads service fuel system. Any ideas?

Have you checked the fuses for the injectors?

Re: 1996 STS Fuel Injector No power?

Since you have ruled out the two fuses, inj 1 and inj 2, follow the harness from the fuse box around and under the coil pack, it plugs into a gray round connector and then splits up to the manifold harness, check the gray connector and see if it is pushed in all the way. COB may be right about the security, it is unusual for all injectors not to work, This connector I should mention is located on top of the transmission near the range selector, Good hunting
