99 seville SLS issue

I was driving in the city

Im getting a whopping 12mpg. This is horrible. FPR was just recently replaced as i suspected it was leaking, Engine has been pulled and timeserted, coolant has been changed every 10k miles as the northstars have had many of headgasket problems from what i know.

I am not going to be a fan of snake oil, so dont try to sell me on those money wasting rebranded stuff (one in particular i read about here)

I am a slightly agressive driver and i live in one of the bigger cities. I dont exceeed 2500 RPM driving daily, oil is changed religiously, i dont see the issue TBH. Gas is at 4.30 a gallon so i am starting to watch this stuff and im really getting worried as of this point. I can avg. 32mpg on the highway if i really watch it (i can get above that if i REALLY try hard enough).

Any reason MPG is this bad?

I think you answered your own question. AGGRESSIVE and CITY. The combo is not conducive to good fuel mileage.

Re: 99 seville SLS issue

Based on my trips into DC and Baltimore for various reasons at various times of the day I would guess that 12 - 17 mpg is right in the ballpark. (The EPA window sticker estimates of 17 - 26 for the later Sevilles are wildly optimistic estimates based on absolutely perfect driving conditions with a highly skilled test driver and are used strictly for marketing purposes. They bear no resemblance to the real world.)

If you drive even somewhat aggressively, your gas mileage goes down the tubes. That's a well known fact. Every time your engine management system senses ".......the need for speed" (remember ?) fuel rates increase to supply more gasoline for the coming power demand.

You can put in a new air filter, fuel filter, and make sure your tire pressures are correct, put in new spark plugs, and you may see a good improvement. But usually its your right foot that determines your mpg's.

already done.

Agressive in my definition is driving like any other city driver. Around 3-6mph a second to 30, i let off when i see a red light ect
It will see 2500 RPM at most TBH.

I tried babying it this morning and im getting 13.5

Re: 99 seville SLS issue

my 93 Eldorado Sport with NorthStar Y engine gave me 18.0 MPG in the city and 24 MPG in the highway. The car is almost 80k miles on it ,I just ordered the ALdelco spark plugs ,wire setand fuel filter from Rockauto.com to replace it since the plugs and wire were original and I think my gas mileage should be improved even more.By the way I never accelerate more than 2000rpm when driving in the city and I alway filled it up with Shell super unleaded gas.
