Now that I figured out the whole water pump deal, I'm looking to replace the tensioner pulley for the water pump. For some reason Autozone and NAPA don't seem to have it, either that or they don't know what I'm talking about. Is this a dealer only item? Anybody have a spare laying around they want to sell me? Thanks, RL

I just replaced that on my 96 STS a few weeks ago. Autozone had one in stock for half the dealer cost, but I ended up getting one from O'Reilly because they would sell either the pulley or the complete pulley/arm assembly. The bearing for the pulley was shot so I just replaced the pulley for about 30 bucks. If you don't have an O'Reilly in your town, call back Autozone and talk to someone else.

Just the pulley or tensioner assembly? If the center shaft is worn, you need the assembly. I just replaced mine and got it at Checker Automotive. They did have to get it from their warehouse so it was 8 hours later. Not a bad job, but I did have to get the replacement belt at a dealer. That little bugger was $20!
